Q. What is a Workgroup?
A. A Workgroup is something like an email list or as some call it, a listserv, but with more than just an email conversation component. It is more similar to a "Yahoogroup," if you are familiar with those. There is an email interaction component of each Workgroup, and there are archives of the email messages for each. There is also a Shared Library of resources and stories that Group Members of the Workgroup (and visitors, if the Workgroup is open) can use and contribute to. Each Workgroup also has a Wiki Notebook, which is like a Web site for shared use by the Group Members (see Wikis). Like email lists, Workgroups have moderators and Group Members. Anyone can join if they are open; if they are closed, then new Group Members must be approved by a moderator. They can also be public or private. (See How do we make our Workgroup private?) In a private Workgroup, conversations, etc., are not viewable by non-members.
